- ➤ West Valley law enforcement, including PPD (Peoria Police Department), hosted a 3.2-mile Torch Run on March 11 from Rio Vista Park to the Peoria Sports Complex to support Special Olympics Arizona's 50th birthday. Participants raised funds through commemorative T-shirt sales and celebrated at a spring training game. West Valley View
- ➤ The Goodyear Police, Fire Department and School of Rock will host Rock the Block, replacing last year’s canceled National Night Out, on Saturday, Apr. 4 at the Goodyear Recreation Center, 420 S. Estrella Parkway from 4 to 8 p.m. as families enjoy music, jump houses, face painting and food trucks. Goodyear Independent
- ➤ West Valley drivers should plan alternate routes as road closures are in effect for the Luke Days event on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22, with closures affecting Glendale Avenue and Litchfield Road (limited to local traffic) starting 5 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday. - ➤ The Taste, a West Valley culinary event, is planned for this spring to raise funds for student scholarships and workforce programs. More than 30 restaurants from Avondale, Goodyear, Tolleson, Litchfield Park, El Mirage, and Surprise will join community leaders. Goodyear Independent
