- ➤ Wildlife World Zoo officials said the facility was not impacted by a fire on a neighboring property on Thursday, April 2. Employees jumped the perimeter fence to contain the flames, and Rural Metro firefighters assisted in preventing the spread. Goodyear Independent

- ➤ Developers signed leases for six new businesses at GSQ downtown, including Paris Baguette, Zara Nail Bar, and Handel’s Ice Cream. Paris Baguette and Zara Nail Bar will use 3,000 sqft and open by the end of 2026, while Handel’s Ice Cream (1,800 sqft) will open early 2027 with outdoor seating. Goodyear Independent

- ➤ Arizona officials pushed back on the Bureau of Reclamation’s draft plan to allocate Colorado River water, warning that cuts of 58% may harm supplies for agriculture and industry—local users could be hit if a state deal is not reached by October; a final version is expected later this year. - ➤ The city of Goodyear has opened its Community Funding Program (with $214,400 available) for nonprofits offering human services, with applications accepted through Thursday, Apr. 30.
