CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The West Valley Arts Council is accepting applications for its Gallery 37 Apprentice Artist Program for high school juniors and seniors and set a 5 p.m. April 18 deadline. Approved students — who must be 15 to 18 by June 1 — will interview on April 23 and attend an orientation in early May then work Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Estrella Mountain Community College to create a permanent public art piece. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Liberty Elementary School District is hosting an open house at Loretta Zumbro Elementary School today from 9 to 11 a.m. at 18304 W. Lower Buckeye Road where guided tours and registration information will be provided amid construction site restrictions such as limited parking and closed-toed shoe requirements. The new K-8 campus will open in August for PreK to sixth grade and add seventh in 2026 and eighth in 2027 to serve about 850 students. Goodyear Independent
