- ➤ Harry Paxton of Buckeye Economic Development was honored with Arizona's top economic award for over 35 years of work — his efforts helped shape local growth in Goodyear and Buckeye — and he now mentors rising professionals. West Valley View
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Isabella Pettet, a Litchfield Park senior from the Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Center at Estrella Mountain, was named a 2026 Flinn Scholar today after being selected from 1,150 statewide applicants, earning her a full scholarship to any public university. She will decide her college choice later. Goodyear Independent
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Goodyear has opened scheduling for household hazardous waste pickups for residential sanitation customers. Residents must make appointments by May 1 for curbside collection from May 4 to May 15 using the Waste Wizard on the Trash and Recycling Services page. Goodyear Independent
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Estrella Foothills finished West Valley play 9-1 and secured a 12-0 win at Cactus on April 22, and they will compete in a play-in rematch in Goodyear at 4 p.m. Wednesday after an 8-2 April run that has them ranked No. 11 in 4A. Goodyear Independent
