- ➤ Desert Springs Community Church is expanding its 10 acre campus to meet regional growth. The church is in The Impact Project and is building a 20720 sqft multi purpose worship center near Indian School Road & Bullard Avenue after expanding parking and youth facilities in phase one during 2024. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Buc-ee’s travel center will open in Goodyear on June 22 and is starting to hire employees for positions. A mass hiring event will be held at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday (paying $18-$23 per hour with three weeks paid time off). AZ Family
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A Phoenix teen built NaveganteAZ.com, a website that helps Arizona families find dual-language programs when navigating school choices. Launched less than two months ago (with input from community and education experts), the site has reached 400 users and will grow as more programs are added. West Valley View
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City Council approved a development agreement with RG Land Partners to build a regional parking garage with about 600 spaces + a police substation and public open space at Civic Square. Construction will begin soon and is expected to open by February 2027. West Valley View
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A MoneyLion study showed that four Arizona suburbs (Buckeye, Maricopa, Goodyear, and Coolidge) ranked among the nation’s fastest growing, with Buckeye recording a 50.4% population jump and higher home values from 2019 to 2024. The Arizona Republic
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On May 5 in Goodyear, Millennium’s baseball team fought back from a 1 to 0 deficit against Apollo in a playoff elimination game, scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning and winning 13 to 4 after sophomore Juan Cuen drove in three with a base loaded triple. Goodyear Independent
