The City of Goodyear said GSQ, a 150-acre mixed-use development that will become the city’s cultural center, is getting new tenants including Trader Joe’s in a 13,500-square-foot space—its first store in town; Black Rock Coffee Bar and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill are set to open in 2026. City leaders say these moves mark a key step in making GSQ a lively destination that brings more growth to Goodyear.

LESD79 officials broke ground on Troy Gilbert Elementary School at Perryville Road and Glendale Avenue on May 5—honoring Major Troy Gilbert, a fallen F-16 pilot—and community members attended the ceremony.

The campus will open in August for the 2026-2027 school year as construction continues over the next year.
