Mayor Joe Pizzillo proclaimed Economic Development Week from May 12 to 16 to highlight the city’s growth—businesses launched several new projects during that time.
New openings included a Buc-ee's development, a Dave's Hot Chicken restaurant at GSQ, a grand opening for Great American Title Agency at GEN1, and a ribbon cutting for Fred Astaire Dance Studios.

The West Valley Arts Council launched the IMPRINT: Native American Stories exhibit at Arts HQ Gallery in Surprise on May 16, and it will run until June 19 featuring Arizona-based Native American artists and a mini-exhibit by Sun Bauer — the gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — to celebrate Indigenous storytelling and culture.
