Maria Palacios, a Goodyear high school senior from Desert Edge High School, was named one of 25 Arizona residents awarded the Empowering Diversity Scholarship for the 2025-26 school year through a partnership between Fiesta Sports Foundation and AZ Blue.
She will attend Arizona State University to study biomedical sciences and become a pediatrician while the scholarship helps cut her on-campus housing cost in half (her family has faced significant financial challenges).

Goodyear officials are working with the city council to expand the volunteer program by incentivizing employees and broadening roles at events and support services.
The initiative, which started in 2007 and has generated nearly $575,000 in value, will use new scheduling technology—streamlining recruitment and recognition for future efforts.
🏥 Health
Abrazo West Campus now offers Aquablation therapy using its new HYDROS Robotic System for men with enlarged prostates during Men’s Health Month.
This minimally invasive treatment uses waterjet technology to quickly remove extra prostate tissue while helping preserve ejaculatory function in appropriate patients.
