Maria Palacios, a Goodyear high school senior from Desert Edge High School, was named one of 25 Arizona residents awarded the Empowering Diversity Scholarship for the 2025-26 school year through a partnership between Fiesta Sports Foundation and AZ Blue.
She will attend Arizona State University to study biomedical sciences and become a pediatrician while the scholarship helps cut her on-campus housing cost in half (her family has faced significant financial challenges).
