- ➤ Officer Dakota Berry rescued Asharie Cheatham from a burning car near 91st Avenue and Interstate 10 on May 25 after a two-vehicle collision, using his glass-breaking tool and risking hand injuries as he pulled her from the flames and first responders rushed her to a burn center — his bodycam captured the rescue — and his department praised his swift action. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Swiss solar manufacturer Meyer Burger closed its Goodyear plant on May 29 and laid off its 282 remaining employees because it lacked funding to continue operations — a WARN notice on May 22 stated that 355 workers would be affected and the facility now stands unused. Goodyear Independent
