Officer Dakota Berry rescued Asharie Cheatham from a burning car near 91st Avenue and Interstate 10 on May 25 after a two-vehicle collision, using his glass-breaking tool and risking hand injuries as he pulled her from the flames and first responders rushed her to a burn center — his bodycam captured the rescue — and his department praised his swift action.

Swiss solar manufacturer Meyer Burger closed its Goodyear plant on May 29 and laid off its 282 remaining employees because it lacked funding to continue operations — a WARN notice on May 22 stated that 355 workers would be affected and the facility now stands unused.
