The city of Goodyear is urging residents to sign up for GY Alerts, a free emergency system that sends safety warnings via text+phone+email as monsoon storms approach.
It is also offering complimentary sandbags at three locations to help protect homes from flooding.
Goodyear Police Department launched Virtual Block Watch, a program that lets residents and business owners register outdoor security cameras to aid investigations.
Officials stressed the secure database maps camera locations — no live feeds or stored footage will be accessed.
