- ➤ Adelante Healthcare will host its 13th annual Super Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 26 at 10 a.m.—12:30 p.m.—at its Goodyear center at 3471 W. Cornerstone Blvd to offer free backpacks and school supplies to the first 400 students from kindergarten to 12th grade. - ➤ A Litchfield Park woman was sentenced on Thursday to more than eight years in prison for aiding North Korean operatives in a remote IT work scheme that generated $17 million in illegal funds (over 90 laptops were seized from her home). AZ Family

- ➤ Ballet Arizona will present a free outdoor ballet performance at Estrella Lakeside Amphitheater in Goodyear on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.—the event is part of a series running Sept. 18—27 that features selections from The Sleeping Beauty, Take Me With You and works by Artistic Director Daniela Cardim alongside student acts and food trucks. - ➤ The Verde River Water Storage project is planning to raise the Bartlett Dam 100 feet to restore lost water storage from sediment buildup and secure water for up to 1 million households. SRP and 25 agencies, including Goodyear, will hold virtual and in-person meetings between July 28 and Aug. 1 with a public comment period open until Aug. 11 — the NEPA review will last two years before congressional approval is sought in 2028.
