ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Multiple Valley agencies worked to rescue an unresponsive construction worker trapped in a hole at a Goodyear construction site near 183rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road on July 28th.  The Arizona Republic
  • Crews responded at 1:10 p.m. on July 28 after a call reported an unresponsive worker trapped in a 6- to 7-foot hole near 183rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road but shifted from rescue to recovery when gas—water and communication lines below the site complicated efforts.  The Arizona Republic

CRIME NEWS

  • A West Valley father was sentenced to natural life plus 57 years last week for the 2015 death of his 3-year-old daughter who was found beaten and starved — he admitted to hitting her with a belt during the abuse.  AZ Family

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Maricopa Community Colleges is set to experience record double-digit enrollment growth heading into Fall 2025, marking its 12th consecutive semester of gains—driven by rising dual enrollment and new career-focused bachelor's programs.  West Valley View
  • West Valley educators are preparing for the return of students as summer ends with a Meet the Teacher Night at Litchfield Elementary today from 4 to 7 p.m.—the school year will start on Thursday, July 31—after a back-to-school celebration that featured a keynote address by Jessica Cabeen.  Goodyear Independent

SPORTS NEWS

  • Registration is open for the 2025 Estrella Cup at 17567 W. Elliot Road in Goodyear and riders may choose between a 47-mile Endurance Course starting at 7 a.m., a 20-mile Short Course beginning at 9 a.m., or a 10-mile Junior Short Course for riders 12 and under—each course limits riders to 50 to 75 for an overall cap of 200 participants.  Goodyear Independent
