- ➤ The Georgia T. Lord Library is hosting Kitchen Creations, a free art exhibit celebrating food with an opening reception on Aug. 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (live music, refreshments and votes for awards) and the exhibit will remain through Oct. 22 with artwork pickup available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while a new show called Futuristic Frontier will open in October with submissions due by Sept. 29. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Fentanyl is spreading through almost every community in Arizona, prompting schools, state agencies & families to boost education on its risks. Recent data show it is involved in 76% of drug-related deaths among 14- to 23-year-olds, and prevention programs urge secure medication storage to help protect children. Goodyear Independent
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The YMCA Westside Silverfins Dive Team earned second place overall for boys at the 2025 AAU Diving National Championships held July 20–27 in Riverside, California. The team from Southwest Valley YMCA in Goodyear achieved multiple top finishes including national champion titles, and coach Bill Hunter praised their hard work–showing local youth talent at a national level.
