Trader Joe’s will open later this year in the GSQ development near McDowell Road and Bullard Avenue, adding one of the city’s most-requested stores to a downtown area with restaurants, civic spaces and offices.
Mayor Joe Pizzillo said the 13,500-square-foot store is part of a 150-acre public-private project that is making a long-held vision for a vibrant downtown come true — a boost for Goodyear’s business scene.

Goodyear High School opened Monday with more than 300 freshmen joining new sports programs in the Agua Fria Union High School District near Loop 303 and training at local facilities over the summer.
Principal Jason Linn and flag football coach Robynn Lee said they plan to build a strong athletics legacy—players like Mia Martinez and Neveah 'Speedy' Cordova are excited for the upcoming season and the Sep. 15 game.

Goodyear has partnered with Seek Thermal to pilot a thermal camera system installed in trash trucks’ hoppers that triggers an in-cab alarm when temperatures reach 200°F— alerting drivers to potential fire hazards.
Officials say the pilot follows an April fire linked to a lithium-ion battery— and they urge residents to avoid disposing of rechargeable batteries in the trash.

Abrazo West Campus finished building a nearly $7 million hybrid operating room to help with complex cardiovascular and vascular procedures.
The new facility combines a sterile operating room with advanced imaging—Azurion 7 M20 with FlexArm—and patient procedures are scheduled to start in August.

Millennium football is preparing for the season with a senior-led offensive line and a large junior class after a 3-7 season ended their playoff streak.
