CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The city of Goodyear is asking artists to paint 8-foot by 8-foot murals at Civic Square Park from Nov. 3 to Nov. 7 to honor military service ahead of a Veterans Day Tribute on Nov. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. Each chosen artist will receive $1,250 — with $500 paid at the start and $750 after completion — and must apply by Sept. 29. - ➤ Goodyear was named the top small city for economic growth by a report that tracked data from 2019 to 2023—showing a 42% rise in GDP and a 61% jump in business applications. - ➤ The Goodyear City Council approved a rezoning request Monday night for a long-vacant parcel at the northwest corner of PebbleCreek Parkway and Monte Vista Road to support a 383-unit apartment complex in the Palm Valley Phase VIII planned area—this change permits taller buildings, higher density and includes conditions for building height, landscaping and design standards.
