- ➤ Tuesday morning, the Goodyear community gathered to mark the 22nd anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a ceremony hosted by the Fire Department. A local honor guard raised a large U.S. flag from a fire truck ladder—Fire Chief Tim Wayne said the flag stood for freedom, resilience, and unity. Goodyear Independent
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Goodyear celebrates its senior talents with the Creative Aging Fine Art Show at the Loma Linda Community Center—showing 37 original works by 11 local artists aged 55 and older. The exhibit runs through Sept. 24 and ends with an Artist Reception from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Georgia T. Lord Library. Goodyear Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A coalition of city mayors, including Goodyear’s, has endorsed Proposition 403 and Proposition 406 to expand West-MEC’s career and technical education programs. Proposition 403 provides a $415 million bond for facilities and land while Proposition 406 lets West-MEC sell, lease, or exchange property—both measures will boost local education without raising taxes.
