- ➤ Liberty Utilities, which serves Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Glendale and Avondale, is proposing water and wastewater rate hikes that will raise the average water bill by about $10.43 and the wastewater bill by about $24.49, citing costs for improved infrastructure and federal compliance. The changes could take effect in the third quarter, and the company will hold community meetings in October—followed by a formal hearing on March 23 at the Arizona Corporation Commission. - ➤ The P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center in Litchfield Park will close its nearly year-long exhibit Crossroads of Change on Sept. 28 with a farewell event from 1 to 3 p.m.—the exhibit showcased local photojournalist Jim Painter’s black-and-white photos of the West Valley’s transformation in the 1980s and 1990s. The museum will open a new exhibit, Lighter Than Air: Balloons, Blimps and Dirigibles, on Oct. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. to explore the area’s early airship history linked to Paul W. Litchfield.
