- ➤ A major donation of diapers and hygiene products from America First Charitable Foundation will be delivered to the Arizona Diaper Bank’s Phoenix warehouse on Oct.2 — volunteers will soon distribute the supplies directly to local families based on arrival order. The donation comes as America First Credit Union prepares to open a new branch in Goodyear, with a ribbon-cutting event scheduled for Oct.3 at 8 a.m. Goodyear Independent
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Natalie Wright left her long career in law after nearly 20 years to write epic fantasy and science fiction for both young and older readers and build a loyal following; she held a sold-out book signing at Barnes & Noble in West Valley. She will appear at the Arizona Library Association Conference in October and plans to release a short story collection in March—the Sigil 5. Goodyear Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On September 24, the Liberty Elementary board voted 4-1 to end interim superintendent Trevor McDonald’s contract without the 30-day notice—he had been placed on leave earlier this month. The board also said it would report possible state law violations to the Attorney General’s Office and state auditor in connection with his leave. Goodyear Independent
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Abrazo Medical Group opened a 21,000-square-foot clinic in Buckeye that brings together cardiology, orthopedics, sports medicine and neurology services—improving access for West Valley residents. The Verrado clinic occupies the third floor of a new medical office building on Roosevelt Street and held a ribbon cutting on Sept. 24. Goodyear Independent

- ➤ On September 2, the high school swimming and diving season began as West Valley Preps and the Surprise Independent asked local coaches for insights—coaches highlighted top returning swimmers, record-breaking performances, and team goals for upcoming state meets. Goodyear Independent
