- ➤ Today during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, New Life Center – one of the largest domestic violence shelters – calls on the community to support survivors with both immediate shelter and long-term safety plans. CEO Kate Thoene said the center will address physical, emotional, and financial abuse to help victims build lasting stability. Goodyear Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Goodyear city manager Wynette Reed will retire on March 6 in 2026 after a 39-year career in public service. Officials will form a subcommittee — a national search will soon begin — to find her replacement. Goodyear Independent
- ➤ The Goodyear Public Works Department was recognized with the Best Safety Innovation Award by SWANA for launching a pilot program that uses a thermal imaging system on trash trucks to alert drivers when temperatures reach 200°F—providing more time for safe load disposal. The city will continue using the system and educating residents on proper battery disposal to reduce fire risks. West Valley View
