- ➤ The Benevilla Enriching Connections Expo is a free community event that will be held Monday, October 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West—bringing together seniors, caregivers, and families with over 50 vendors, expert presentations, and aging resources. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Kassie Silva, a 17-year-old senior at Trivium Preparatory Academy, won first prize at Goodyear’s Follow Your Art Jr. Fine Art Exhibition for her work 'Consistency Within Filipino Culture' (a tribute to her grandmother and heritage). She will study scenic design at ASU next year to build on her art career. Goodyear Independent
- ➤ The city of Goodyear postponed the free Hispanic Heritage Month event 'Ritmos y Raíces' due to expected storms, and the celebration will now be held on Oct. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Goodyear Ballpark—featuring live music and cultural displays. Goodyear Independent
- ➤ The P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center is hosting the free 'Regional Reads' book club where local readers explore Southwest literature at 6 p.m. each first Wednesday at 13912 W. Camelback Road—its next meeting on November 5 will feature 'Hardland' by Ashley E. Sweeney. Goodyear Independent
