- ➤ The Desert Edge High girls volleyball team volunteered at Goodyear Ballpark on Sept. 28 by helping clean up after the Roundup charity food truck event, moving sand bags, removing old signage, and picking up trash — the players showed their commitment to giving back to the community. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Two Southwest Valley historic properties, Rancho La Loma Homestead and Tal-Wi’Wi’ Ranch, have been recommended for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places following unanimous committee votes—Tal-Wi’Wi’ Ranch is now under review by the National Park Service, and if approved the properties will be the first recognized in the region aside from Monument Hill. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ More than 50 students from Starworld Martial Arts Academy in Goodyear competed at the World Tang Soo Do Association Region 2 Championship and earned several awards including Grand Champion titles.
